The Former President's Framework of Retribution and Reward

Donald Trump's insatiable urge for payback has rapidly evolved into a methodical framework. During the twelve months, the president's fury and whims have taken on the shape of official policies in ways comparable to historical dictatorial regimes. Justice department officials who fail to comply are summarily dismissed and replaced by supporters. Opposing figures who question him face indictment, judicial process and penalties. Opponents have been categorized under executive memoranda as “unpatriotic”, “against faith communities” and “opposing economic freedom”, and menaced with prosecution as “security threats”.

Government Institutions Remade

Every case involving legal action of Trump's enemies and leniency for his allies displays its own particular characteristics. Yet, despite their specific character, they embody expressions of what has developed as a systematic method. Those incidents are not isolated. Trump's cleansing of DoJ prosecutors and FBI agents, coupled with his placement of supporters in high-level positions, started swiftly, promptly developed a consistency, and has now been shaped into a structure. Federal prosecutors and the Federal Bureau have been transformed into political organizations under his explicit direction to implement his wishes. Unfairness has been made normal. It represents the apparatus of revenge.

Management is more concerned with punishing the President's perceived enemies than they are with defending our national security.

Within the System

The origin of this system has been uncovered in the court filing of three previous top FBI executives lodged in the ninth month in the judicial system in Washington against agency head an administration figure and justice department head a key figure for wrongful dismissal in “a campaign of revenge against the officials for what administration figures judged to be a failure to show proper devotion”. According to the filing that one official, the ex- interim leader, recounts a conversation in which the director “publicly acknowledged the illegality of his actions”.

He had sought to shield agency personnel from being dismissed, the lawsuit states. The director informed him that “administration officials” – perceived by him to be the presidential administration and federal prosecutors – had directed him to remove everyone who they identified as having been involved in a criminal investigation against him. The filing adds: “The director clarified that he had to dismiss the people his leaders told him to fire, because his chance to hold his own role relied on the ouster of the personnel who handled matters involving the President. The director noted that there was no option he or him could do to halt these or any other dismissals, because ‘the bureau attempted to incarcerate the President in detention and he remembers.’” Once the official advised Patel he was breaking the agency's own internal rules, he reportedly said “he knew that and he knew the nature of the summary firings were probably unlawful”.

Broad Impact

Following his alleged admission to the official, the Department of Justice and the FBI have been dismantled and repurposed for his system of punishment. Multiple of the FBI's high-ranking agents were fired or pushed out in the early weeks of the administration. Roughly thousands of professional attorneys at DoJ have accepted a “deferred resignation program”. A minimum of several government attorneys, among them those in the southern district of New York, stepped down in dissent over what they viewed as ideological pressure in abandoning the legal action against the New York City mayor, the mayor, in return for his cooperation with his federal agency roundups of immigrants. The ethics division of DoJ, which manages corruption cases, has been reduced to a handful of lawyers. The equality section has been decimated: the majority of its staff has departed. One-third of executives at the justice department have quit. The unit implementing conservation statutes has seen departures of a majority its supervisors.

Favors and Punishments

Concerning the legal matter, the acting US attorney for the federal division, Danielle Sassoon, stepped down in protest against what she labeled as the “trade-off”. A key figure, his “border czar,” showed up as the implementer with the mayor on a media outlet to state: “Unless he complies, I'll be back in New York City.”. Meanwhile, another figure, previously the acting deputy attorney general and a past legal representative, who arranged the arrangement, was awarded an judicial position, a potential springboard to the supreme court.

His protection for wrongdoings carried out while in office, provided by the extraordinary judgment of the Republican majority on the judicial body, thus blocking his criminal case over the political violence and maintaining his public standing for the national vote, is the foundation stone on which he relies to defend his stalwarts. Given this protection, he has been freed to enable corruption. The effect of the judicial ruling permeates his presidency and the political party thoroughly. The legal case has escalated. Similar to the former president's legal adviser he said about the Watergate
