New Details Come to Light Concerning the Discovery of the Reiner Couple's Remains

New information has come to light regarding the untimely deaths of renowned director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were located at their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday.

A Discovery

According to a report citing a person close to the family, a massage therapist arriving for an session initially became concerned after being unable to gain access the home. The therapist then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.

When she went into the home, Romy discovered her father's body. Accounts indicate she then left the home distraught, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Her roommate who had accompanied her then dialed 911. Subsequently, paramedics discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Proceedings

The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, along with the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently detained and is ineligible for bail.

Clarifications

The person close to the family questioned several previously reported details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a separate structure on the property, she did not identify him as a suspect at that moment.

Furthermore disputed circulated notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "concerned" about Nick's behavior in the weeks leading up to the incident. Instead the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."

This refutation includes descriptions of reportedly "erratic" behavior by Nick at a event thrown by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. Although the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they asserted that suggestions of a "blow-up" between the two were not correct.

Ongoing Inquiry Timeline

According to law enforcement officials, the coroner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some accounts suggested the condition of their bodies suggested they had been dead for some hours.

Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the residence. He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had not been medically cleared and would not appear until Wednesday or later.
